MEGAN SILVER ELECTED TO EXECUTIVE COUNSEL OF YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION
Megan Silver was elected to be a member of the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Division of the Greensboro Bar Association for the 2010-2011 term. The Young Lawyers Division is for members of the Greensboro Bar Association who are younger than 36 years of age. The YLD conducts regularly scheduled luncheon meetings and socials, special projects such as the Swearing-In Ceremony and Bridge-the-Gap program, Ask-A-Lawyer, Child Safety Day, and serving meals at Urban Ministry.

JEFF DAVIS SERVES AS CHIEF OF STAFF FOR THE COMMITTEE TO RE-ELECT JUDGE LINDSAY DAVIS, JR
Jeff Davis is serving as the chief of staff for the committee to re-elect Judge Lindsay Davis, Jr. as a Superior Court judge in Guilford County. The election will be held in November 2010.

JENNY ADAMS GETS MARRIED
Jennifer Frances Adams and Howell Dean Ledford, Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, June 19, 2010 during a noon wedding at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Jenny is a graduate of Grimsley High School, Davidson College, and Wake Forest University School of Law. The groom is a graduate of North Buncombe High School, Mars Hill College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, from which he received his Master of Music in Music Education. He is a music teacher and band and orchestra director with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.

JEFF DAVIS WINS COMPLEX CONSTRUCTION ARBITRATION
Jeff Davis represented a subcontractor in a dispute with the general contractor for a high-end hotel. The dispute was detailed and fact-specific. The arbitration lasted a full week and resulted in a substantial arbitration award in favor of Jeff’s client.

 
BERT ANDIA SUCCESSFULLY REPRESENTS EMPLOYER IN FEDERAL COURT
Bert Andia represented an employer in a federal court case in which a fired employee had claimed that race was an issue in his termination. In granting summary judgment for the employer, the court ruled that no reasonable jury could find enough evidence to be sufficient to support the allegations. Bert’s victory avoided the time and expense of trial.

 
TRIP ADAMS TEACHING AT ELON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW
This will be the second consecutive year that Trip Adams has taught the Bankruptcy course at Elon University School of Law.

Elon University School of Law is located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

 
JENNIFER ADAMS NAMED A RISING STAR
Jennifer Adams has again been named a Rising Star in the Super Lawyers 2010 listings, in the area of Consumer Bankruptcy. She first appeared in the 2009 list of outstanding young lawyers in the state.


The publishers of Super Lawyers launched Rising Stars to recognize the top up-and-coming attorneys in the state -- those who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less.

The Business Journal has again named Higgins Benjamin Eagles & Adams, PLLC, among the largest law firms in the Triad. The 2010 Book of Lists includes us as the thirteenth largest. Although the Business Journal does not consider this any endorsement, we have found that meeting the varied needs of our clients is best and most efficiently done when ample resources are available to be wielded by attorneys who have varied skills and experience. We consider our size to be important to best serve clients while having the opportunity to build relationships that foster full service by understanding the clients’ needs. BRIAN TOMLIN TEACHING PERSUASIVE COMMUNICATION COURSE
Brian Tomlin has begun his fourteenth (14th) year as a part-time instructor in the Speech Communications and Journalism and Mass Communications departments at North Carolina A&T State University. He is currently teaching a course in Persuasive Communication.

 
MEGAN SILVER JOINS THE FIRM
Megan Silver recently graduated from Elon University School of Law with high honors (magna cum laude) in that school's Charter Class. She passed the North Carolina Bar Exam and began the practice of law with Higgins Benjamin Eagles & Adams PLLC after being sworn in on October 2, 2009.
